DEREK RAY SOWERS, 22, of Woodburn, died on Friday, May 3, 2013, in New Haven. Born Oct. 25, 1990, in Auburn, he worked in the construction business. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Tracey A. and Eric Klotz of Garrett; father, Chad S. Sowers of Woodburn; brother, Cory N. Sowers of Woodburn; grandparents, Ruth Terry of Garrett, John and Carolyn Sowers of Woodburn; stepbrother, Jacob Klotz of Garrett; and stepsister, Katie Pope of South Lyon, Mich. Memorial service is 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Harlan, with visitation two hours prior. The Rev. Lew Stier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
