MAGDALENA LARA MENDEZ, 85, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. Born in Xilitla, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She was a Homemaker as well as a retiree of St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of the Templo Aposento Alto. Surviving are her husband, Jose E. Mendez, Sr.; and her children, Margie Mendez, Geraldo Mendez, Jesus Mendez, Magdalena (Toni) Mendez, Carmen Mendez (Jesse), Marisela (Ernesto) Barrientos, Frank Mendez, Aurora (Steve) Penny, Jose Mendez, Jr., Tammy (Ruben) Martinez, David (Tram) Mendez and Celia (Heath) Johnson. She leaves five generations. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jorge Mendez, Jose Luis Mendez and Celso Mendez; and her daughter, Maria Mendez. Celebration service is 10 a.m. Friday at The Church House, 13313 Indiana St., Grabill. Viewing is from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to the Magadalena Mendez Memorial fund, payable to Jose E. Mendez, Sr.
