Anthony A. Russo

Arrangements under the direction of Neill Funeral Home, Harrisburg, PA.Anthony A. Russo, 80, of Rutherford passed away in his sleep on Friday, May 6, 2011. He was born in Shipoke on February 28, 1931 and was the son of the late Paul and Assunta Russo.

Tony was a career barber serving the PA House of Representatives for 27 years while maintaining his own barber shop in Rutherford for 55 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. Tony was an avid Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed watching sports with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and on several occasions had the PA Secretary of Agriculture at his home to share gardening and fruit tree tips.

He is survived by his three sons, Anthony P. Russo and wife Cindy of Enola; Joseph A. Russo and wife Andrea of Hershey; and Douglas S. Russo and wife Ronda of Harrisburg. He was the grandfather of Shara, Tara, Ashley, Anthony, Brooke, Zachariah, and Joey; and the great-grandfather of Myel. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Margaret of 54 years and 3 sisters; Lena, Mary, and Carmela. He has 2 surviving sisters; Catherine Leo and Sara Breski of Harrisburg. He had many nieces and nephews as well. Tony will be greatly missed by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011. Visitation will begin at 10:15am. Burial will follow the service at Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Township.
