Carl R. Barnhart

Carl passed away January 7, 2011 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born May 31, 1928 in Waynesboro, PA. His loving wife Nancy L. Barnhart recently passed away November 6, 2010, they were married 59 years. Survivors include two sons, Charles Michael and wife Donna in Westlawn, PA, Gary Stephen in Lakewood, CO., a granddaughter, Kathleen T. Radkowski and husband Joe, and a grandson, Carl F. Barnhart.

Carl enjoyed hunting, camping, golf, bowling and spending time with family at their Mountain get away in Central Penna. Carl graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1946 as Class Valedictorian, served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class, on a Destroyer in the Pacific Fleet from 1946-1948, and then graduated from Penn State University in 1952 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. At Penn State he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He married Nancy Hawkins of Bristol, VA in 1951. Carl worked for Bell Telephone of PA for 33 years as the Central PA District Manager of Network Facilities Design.

Carl held various offices in his church, Colonial Park United Methodist Church where he was a member since 1957. Carl was also a member and Treasurer of the Penn Garden Lions Club and was very active in the Boy Scouts with his two sons.

Visitation with family and friends will be in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St. Wednesday January 12, 2011 from 10AM -11AM. Services will be held at Neill Funeral Home Wednesday January 12, 2011 at 11AM by Pastor Jenn Williams. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Londonderry Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Cross Point United Methodist Church, 430 Colonial Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17109.
