

David B. Colestock, 77, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on July 20, 2015 at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. Dave was born on November 23, 1937 in Enola, PA and was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Virginia Colestock, and sister Brenda in childhood. Dedicated to serving his family, friends, and community, Dave was a model of courage and strength until his passing due to complications from Alzheimer’s related illness.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta M. (Magnuson) Colestock; son David Colestock (partner Thomas Gallup) of Harrisburg, son Daniel Colestock (wife Susan) of Harrisburg, daughter Brenda Prabhakar (husband Prashant) of North Wales, and son Keith Colestock (wife Amy) of Carlisle; grandchildren Ashley Black (husband Tim), Brittany Lehr (husband Adam), Shaan Prabhakar, Jeevan Prabhakar, Kiran Prabhakar, Leah Colestock, Grace Colestock, Blain Colestock, and Wyatt Colestock; great-grandchildren Makayla Black, Natalie Black, and Luke Lehr. Dave is also survived by Aunt Jean Krovic of Steelton and brother Raymond Colestock (wife Carol) of Middleburg.
Dave attended Enola High School and was a graduate of Blain High School. While he was retired from employment as a draftsman designer at Gannett Fleming and as a tip staff at Dauphin County Courthouse, Dave worked diligently at all he endeavored in various church and community organizations. Dave was a member of Trinity EC Church in Rutherford where he served in several leadership roles and sang in the church choir. In service to his community, Dave was elected as Swatara Township Commissioner and served as a volunteer on the Swatara Township Police Commission. Dave was also a member of the Paxtang Lions Club and served as District Governor for Lions Club International, District 14T.
Dave’s greatest pleasures were those times spent with his family: coaching little league baseball; leading Boy Scouts; attending concerts, musicals, and recitals; tailgating at Penn State Football games; building and refinishing in his workshop; hunting in the mountains; fishing in the streams; and spending time at the family cabin in Blain.
