

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Mary Ellen (Stankovick) Soliday; two siblings, Barbara “Sis” Soliday and Rod Soliday; two children, Douglas Soliday (Nanette) and Monica McCandless; three grandchildren, Lindsey Soliday-Speicher (Aaron), Alyssa Soliday (Marc), Catherine Soliday; two great grandchildren, Kayden and Clara; nieces and nephews; and his favorite furry friend, Sir Paul.
Earl is pre-deceased by his two siblings, Appalonia Soliday and Mary Louise (Soliday) Strangarity.
Earl was born on September 6, 1936 in Lebanon, PA and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1954. At the age of 17, Earl enlisted in the United States Air Force. Earl met the love of his life, Mary Ellen, at a skating rink and he married her shortly after on October 24, 1959. He proudly served his country for 20 years with one year in Vietnam. He retired as a Technical Sergeant. He held numerous jobs after retirement, and fondly remembered his 10 years of service at the Navy Depot, and supporting the Dauphin County Courthouse.
Earl had many hobbies and was a die-hard Penn State football fan. He was an avid bowler for many years and had bowled a perfect game which he was very proud of. He loved the game of golf and played in several leagues. He especially enjoyed playing in a league with his son. Earl was an active member of his church for over 40 years and his faith was a pillar of his life and marriage. He was also a member of The American Legion and loved when people would tell him “Thank you for your service.” Earl was a family man through and through and loved spending time with them all. His family holidays had many traditions and he loved celebrating Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Independence Day, Labor Day and of course, Veteran’s Day with food, drink and happy memories.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 208 Woods Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Visitation will start at 10:00AM, followed by service at 11:00AM. Guests are welcome to stay after for a small luncheon. A private burial with military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery; Annville, PA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.
