
Esther Lewis, 91, peacefully entered eternal life on Ascension Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Homeland Center. She joined her husband, Pius (Pete) after being apart for 2 years.
Daughter of Antonio and Fortuna Acri, she was a lifelong resident of Harrisburg. She is survived by three daughters Veronica (Thomas) MacCormick, Cincinnati, OH, Susan (Leonard) Shebosky, Harrisburg, and Debra Lewis, Schwenksville, PA; and beloved grandchildren Kathryn, Janina, Lauren and Michael; sisters Edith Kochenour and Helen Lappano, and brothers Ercol, Armond, and Raymond. She was predeceased by brothers Romualdo, Adolph, and Albert and sister Aurelia as well as three infant siblings Pasquale, Rose, and Marianna.
Esther was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. A devout Catholic, her caring nature for home and family life was evident. Her cooking, baking, and dinner parties were legendary. She and Pete were long time members of Colonial Country Club as well as Placid Lakes Country Club in Lake Placid, Florida where they spent 31 winters. She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds and bluebirds in their flower gardens, golf, bridge and recently, playing dominoes with Sue, Marie and Jane soundly beating them each week. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church by the Very Rev.Edward J. Quinlan. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10 am. A service of committal will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nativity School, 2135 N. Sixth St., Hbg, PA 17110 or Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Hbg., PA 17112.
