Francis Joseph "Frank" Chupa, 90, of Harrisburg, formerly of Lansford and Summit Hill, PA, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. Chupa was born on December 5, 1927. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 212 State St., Harrisburg, where Chupa served as an extraordinary minister, providing the Eucharist to parishioners and the homebound. A visitation will be held at the cathedral preceding the Mass at 9:00 AM. Chupa will be buried at Ft. Indiantown Gap. Following his high school graduation in 1945, Chupa was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving as a Medical NCO in the Philippines. He was discharged following World War II at the rank of Sergeant; he was a member of the American Legion and was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Chupa attended Temple University in Philadelphia. Chupa was the owner of Frank's ESSO in Harrisburg, Chupa's Gulf in Camp Hill, and was a retiree of the Commonwealth of PA and the U.S. Post Office. Chupa was the loving and devoted husband of his wife of 57 years, Yvonne (Magaro) Chupa. He was the dedicated and proud father of five children and their spouses: Michael (Anna), Francine (Peter) Welsh, Janine, Steven (Tanya), and Angeline (Kevin Byrnes). He is also survived by six grandchildren. Chupa was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Mary (Pavlic) Chupa of Summit Hill, and sisters, Irene Wolf and Elizabeth Martin.
