Joan M. Mahey

Joan Margaret Berry Mahey, 79, formerly of Rutherford, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was the daughter of the late James Parker Berry and Louise Jeannette Grieser and the wife of her late husband Everett Arnold Mahey.

She was a retired teacher of the Harrisburg School District where she worked as an Early Development Kindergarten Teacher. She was a graduate of West Chester University. She was a member of Paxton Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was a Den Mother of Rutherford Cub Scouts. She loved music playing the piano and organ. She taught piano to others. She loved working on crafts, travelling and nature.

She is survived by her son, John A. Mahey and his wife, Mary, of Harrisburg; her daughter, Julie A. Mahey, of South Mountain; one grandson, Andrew J. Mahey, of Harrisburg; and her sister, Judith Berry Maestrelli of Colorado Springs, CO.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 15, 2013 in Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg.
