Joseph Robert Popnik, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home.

Born January 14, 1935 in New Philadelphia; he was the son of the late Matthew and Catherine (Kaminsky) Popnik; and preceded in death by his siblings, Peter Popnik, Veronica Rompalo, Helen Remeikis, Bernice Ciarvella and Albert Popnik.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Marlene A. (Borst) Popnik; nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Joseph was a retired corporal for the PA State Police and a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Joseph was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church and the Lawnton American Legion Post 998.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM Friday until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111 or to the Rohhad Fight Inc., 3 Surrey Lane, Hempstead, NY 11550.
