

Mary P. McDonnell, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, at Brookdale Nursing Home. She was born in Carbondale, PA, and attended Saint Rose High School. Mary was the last surviving child of the late John and Florence Lillian (Fryer) Delaney, and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, daughter, Mary Sharon, and granddaughter, Meaghan. She was a long time member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Harrisburg. Mary is survived by two sons, Jerry McDonnell and wife Susan, of Mechanicsburg, and Kevin McDonnell and wife Teri, of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Sean and wife Elizabeth, Ryan, Kaitlin and Jordan McDonnell, and her loving dog, Meggie. For the majority of her life, Mary was a dedicated wife and mother to her husband and two sons. She was a former employee of Bell Telephone and PENNDOT in Harrisburg. Mary loved spending fall afternoons with family and friends watching the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football games, and occasionally traveling to South Bend, Indiana, to cheer them on in person. She also enjoyed spending summer vacations in Atlantic City with her family. A viewing will be held Thursday, March 2, 6-8 p.m. at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, and also at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 3, in the Chapel at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
