To the extended family-

What we would have done without the Finney store? We are so grateful for the store you opened in Rutherford. Meeting friends there, you were open in snow storms, we needed you in emergencies.  We are a Rutherford family and will never forget you and all the Finneys for being there for us.

RUTH, SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOTHER.  SHE HAD A LONG LIFE AND I HOPE SHE WASN'T ILL AT THE END.  IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE THE GOOD OLD DAYS IN RUTHERFORD AND HAVEN'T BEEN IN TOUCH WITH YOU PROBABLY SINCE LORRAINE PASSED.  HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE WELL AND WISH YOU THE STRENGTH TO GET THRU THESE TOUGH DAYS.  MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND BLESS YOU ALL.

Finney's was a big part of my childhood. I still have dreams I am shopping there with my mom - the original store. She was always so nice. God bless her!

RIP Nina, you will be remembered by the old Rutherford gang.

My dear sweet friend for life, Ruth....I am in shock.  I hardly ever read the Obits here in Harrisburg, because most people I know are from up home Minersville, but currently it is almost 2 a.m. and I cannot sleep, and I decided to pick up the Sunday paper.  Then I had a strong urge to read the Obituaries.  I know without a doubt that God led me to the page where my eyes fell upon the Obit of your sweet,  precious mom, Nina.  I loved your mom and pop sincerely.  How could I not love Harry and Nina?   Ruth, my heart hurts so much for your loss.  I know how much you loved your parents.  I know the good daughter you always were to them.  You were always there for them and they knew how much you loved them.  I am so glad I met you at the Assisted Living that time to go see your mom, and it was so bitter-sweet for me to see Nina there.  It brought back a slew of memories when Harry and Nina were still together and strong, living in Rutherford when I came to their home with you.  I loved them both from the day I met them.  They were so kind and loving to me, and so humble and down to earth.  I said to them, and I meant it, they were like my family to me, and I truly loved them both.  I would have gone to see your mom, Nina, in the Assisted Living, but it was too hard on me.  Brought back a lot of painful memories of me going t o see my pop in the nursing  home, and it was just too hard.  I left Nina that day, and cried in the car, because I felt that was the last time I would see her, and I so wanted to see her more timesin my heart.  I wanted to be strong enough to not let those memories of going to see my pop in The nursing home till he died, not affect me but it did.  And it pained me in my heart to know my pop and your mom, after all they went through in their life, they both had to spend their last days in a home. You, Ruth and I have no regrets.  We did everything we possibly could for our parents, and we had no other choice with my pop, Stephan, or your precious mom Nina.  I am going to try to make it to her viewing tommorrow morning my dear friend.  I made it to your pops and I am going to try very hard to get there ok?  If I am not there, when I call you, I will explain what happened.  Until then my dear friend Ruth, my deepest sympathy goes to you and your daughters that I know and Kelsey, but truly my heartfelt sympathy also to the rest of your family.  We were so blessed by God to have wonderful parents Ruth.  Our parents were from "The Greatest Generation".  Try to console yourself by knowing Harry and sweet Nina are reunited again, never again to be separated.  You have your two parents, who loved you so much, looking down upon you daily, watching over you daily.  You have your 2 Angel parents in Heaven with their Lord, celebrating this Christmas in heaven with Him.  I care about you dear Friend, very much, and if I am not able to make the Viewing/Memorial tommorrow, I will be in touch with you soon.  Love Debbie Samilo-Davenport.
