Shirley was born March 23, 1935, in Harrisburg; she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Ruth (Prosser) McMullen; and preceded in death by husbands, Harry J. Dolby and Frederick Wright; and her son Thomas E. Dolby.
Surviving is her son, Steven J. Dolby and his wife, Holly; daughter, Lisa A. Dolby-Hassel; and two grandchildren, Anna K. Dolby and Harry Hassel.
Shirley was a retired telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone and AT&T and worked for PA Blue Cross after her retirement and was also a Caregiver for the Christian Companion Co, Carlisle, until her passing.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, and a graduate of William Penn High School. Shirley loved people, conversations on the phone with her friends and she showed her Silky Terrier dogs, winning Blue Ribbons, and was a weekly patron at the West Shore Farmers Market. She knew all the vendors, who were like family. Friday visits were a very special passion of hers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM, Saturday, until the time of the service at the church.
