Sue Ann Davis

Sue Ann Straining Davis, age 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer. Sue was born on July 30, 1948, in the Shipoke area of Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Harry L. and Geraldine R. Straining.

She was a 1966 graduate of John Harris High School, where she was a National Honor Society member. She attended HACC after graduating high school , then went on to work at Bell Telephone and Nationwide Insurance in Harrisburg. Sue then began what she felt was the most important job of her life, being a devoted mother of 2 girls.

After the girls got older, she went back to work part-time at Paxtonia Elementary School, then went on to work full-time at Bon-Ton, and then most recently Lower Allen Township, where she worked for almost 15 years.

She had been a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Colonial Park and a current member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Colonial Park. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Linglestown. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, collecting Pandora beads, collecting Boyds Bears, shopping with her daughters, dinners with her husband, exploring wineries and sharing her love of football with the entire family.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, J. Michael Davis. Sue is also survived by her daughters, Staci L. Morgan and her husband Brian of Carlisle and Kristen M. Davis and Michael Orr of Harrisburg, and her sister-in-law, Michelle H. Davis, and Terry Stern of Playa del Rey, CA, and many close cousins.

Services will be held Monday, August 13, 2012, at 12 noon, at Neill Funeral Home,

3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA, with the Rev. Patrick P. Wirick officiating. Burial

will held in Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
