Thirzah was born November 1, 1928 and was the youngest child of the late Ralph and Florence Snover. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Helen, Robert, Sara Jane, Paul, and Seth and her son in law Algirdas Ruksys. She grew up in West Hanover Township and graduated from Lower Paxton High School in 1947. She worked several jobs until her marriage.
She was a homemaker and raised her five daughters. After the youngest began school, she began working outside the home. Eventually, her love of reading led her to a job at Waldenbooks where she rose to the position of manager until she retired in 1985.
She was an active volunteer at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where she was a member, as well as Frey Village Nursing Home Auxiliary, and the Paxtang Swatara Community Library where she was a board member and president.
At the time of her death, she resided at Capitol Rehab, formerly the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg.
Thirzah is survived by her five daughters: Susan Bennick (Gregory) and Margaret Baranowski (Anthony), both of Harrisburg, Karla Ruksys of Barrington NJ, Rebecca Griffith (Gerald) of South Holland IL, and Jennifer Menefee (Steven) of Spring Hill KS. She has five grandchildren: Cynthia Reichert-Landis (Craig), and Joseph Baranowski (Pamela), both of Harrisburg, Greer Griffith of South Holland IL, Dorothy Menefee-Camp (Christian) of Stephenville TX, Anna Cleary (Nikki) of Overland Park KS and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kenneth Baranowski of Harrisburg.
Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3700 Rutherford Street, Harrisburg PA 17111 on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11 a.m Visitation will be held an hour before the service. Burial will be in Dauphin Cemetery following the luncheon.
