Born in Shipoke in Harrisburg, she was a proud graduate of Catholic High School (Bishop McDevitt). Her heart of service and exceptional secretarial skills. During WWII, she served at Fort Meade, MD and Fort Indiantown Gap, PA, then became a secretary to Bishop Leech. Following the birth of her children, Veronica was the secretary to co-founder of Brookhart & Tyo Engineering. She retired from Commonwealth's Department of Revenue after earning many awards for excellence and proficiency. As a founding member of Holy Name of Jesus, Harrisburg, she generously supported the construction of its new church, Bishop McDevitt High School, and many Catholic organizations. She was an excellent dancer and loved to travel to Florida.
She was a daily communicant whose well-worn rosaries accompanied her daily walks and were supplemented by numerous cherished prayers and daily Magnificat. She took prayer requests seriously and when confronted by life's difficulties and disappointments, constantly chose to 'offer it up.'
Veronica's love of God, devotion to the Blessed Mother, and deep-seated faith were nurtured by her parents Andrew and Mary Blasco. She was preceded in death by brothers Andrew, John, Michael, Paul, Edward, and sisters Mary, Ann (Horvath), Helen (Miller), Elizabeth (Lippi) and Margaret (Lippi).
In 2007, she lost Joe, the love of her life and husband of 57 years. Throughout life she was thankful for her numerous blessings, most especially her sons Stephen (Mindy) and Joseph (Danelle), daughter Colette (Nick) Fazzolari, and grandsons Nico and Robert Fazzolari. In addition to her beloved family, her sweet disposition and positive attitude will be missed by many including residents and loving staff members at Country Meadows and LifeSong Hospice.
Visitation will be at 9 am on 6-17-22 prior to 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Reverend Kenneth G. Smith at St. Katharine Drexel Church, One Peter Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA. Burial at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Katharine Drexel Church.
