He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl (Howell) Hoffman. He is also survived by his mini-me-daughter, Amanda, her husband, Mark, and his grandson, Chance, as well as his son, Joseph Hoffman. He also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Joreen and John Kelly, as well as his brother-in-law, Zane Allison. Warren is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.
Warren was preceded in death by his Mother, Mildred Amanda, and his Father, Warren W. Hoffman, as well as his sister-in-law, Jinny Allison, and his step-sister, Virginia Brown.
Warren attended Susquehanna Township through his high school graduation, only to return there for the majority of his career teaching History and serving as Chairman of the History Department. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a BA in History and Secondary Education.
Warren was raised in Harrisburg, but spent his entire life boating on the Chesapeake Bay, beginning with his grandfather in Lapadum, MD. His love of the Bay and boating continued throughout his life. Collecting duck decoys, carved and painted on the Eastern Shore, was a favorite pastime.
He was a member of the Eastern Shore Power Squadron and a member of the American Legion. He served in the Air National Guard during the Korean War prior to his marriage, as well as serving as a Volunteer and Fire Chief of the Progress Fire Company (where he happened to meet the love of his life at a Bingo Game!). During the summers, he also began and completed or supervised all of the work for Hoffman Tree Experts. He loved working outside and creating beautiful landscaping. A staunch Republican, Warren's later years included yelling at the television when a Democrat was in Office, and reading the NY Post and watching Fox News. Reading was an absolute part of his everyday routine, recently diverging from Historical Non-Fiction to Historical Autobiographies, including "Queen Noor."
Above all, Warren loved his wife, his children, and his only grandchild, Chance. But at the end of the day - and his life, his world revolved around the woman he fell in love with at Bingo, Cheryl Hoffman, his beloved wife.
A visitation for Warren will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 at 3:00pm at Neill Funeral Home; 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111, followed by a memorial service beginning at 4:00pm.
