Born December 28, 1938 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Harry and Violet (Shreve) Simpson; and preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Lutz; and twin brother, Harry Simpson.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Simpson; son, George Simpson (Sharon); daughter, Stephanie Hench (Brian); and son William, Jr. (Karen); 3 grandsons, Christopher Hench (Amber), Daniel Hench (Destiny) and Jonathon Simpson; 3 great-grandchildren, Oliver Hench, Sylvie Hench and Isla Hench; and brother Samuel Simpson.
He retired from Ames True Temper, Jackson Plant.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army, member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council 12811, PA Sports Hall of Fame, VFW Post 148, Liverpool American Legion Post 364, Lawnton American Legion Post 998, St. Catherine’s Coffee Cup, Lower Paxton Golden Age Club and a past peewee football coach for the former St. Catherine’s Youth Football Team.
He was extremely proud of his family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a lifetime fan of Penn State Football, Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies and an avid NASCAR fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be from 11:00 AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the church.
