He was born on October 13, 1948, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Harold Leroy Logan and Joyceline “Joyce” Marie Bodkin Logan.
Alan graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1968. He went into active service with the United States Army as a Specialist Four for two years in Company A, Second Battalion, First Brigade. He was transferred to the Army Reserves at Camp Pickett in Blackstone, Virginia for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1975. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal.
He is survived by a brother, Lawrence Logan (Sue Crawford); and a nephew, Shane Logan, all of Roanoke; numerous cousins; and a special advocate, Connie Thompson Bodkin.
Per his request, all services will be private, and he will be interred at Woodbine Cemetery.
