Andrew Marafino

Andrew Marafino, 94, of Bridgewater passed away, Sunday, March 31, 2019. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 24, 1924 and was the son of the late John and Assunta Marafino. Andrew attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Ohio for two years and then the New England Conservatory of Music for two years. He taught music and mathematics in numerous public school systems for 20 plus years. He enjoyed repairing musical instruments for his students. During WWII he served in the US Marine Corp. In 2001, he moved to Harrisonburg from Cranston, Rhode Island and he was of the Catholic faith. On June 4, 1949 he married the former Margie Hicks, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Andrew Marafino of Tucson, AZ, John Marafino of Harrisonburg, Peter Marafino of North Providence, RI, Margaret Marafino of Newport, RI and Norma Marafino of Harrisonburg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Victor Marafino; two brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Father Silvio Kaberia officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Culpeper National Cemetery 2 pm, on Monday, April 8, 2019.
