Betty Ann Bragg, 72, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away at 7:05 Wednesday morning, Oct 20, 2010 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1938 in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Ada Shifflett. She was reared by the late Evelyn Shifflett of Keezletown. Betty lived her entire life in this area and graduated in 1957 from Montevideo High School. She worked in the kitchen at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Rockingham Poultry, and retired from City of Harrisonburg Transportation Department where she was a dispatcher. She was member of Keezletown United Methodist Church. She was an animal lover and enjoyed country and Cajun music. Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Lavern Spitzer and William Bragg. Surviving is her long time companion, Morris Lawson of Harrisonburg, and was a loving mother to her four sons, Ricky Spitzer and wife, Jane, of Harrisonburg; Terry Spitzer and wife, Yusun, of Virginia Beach; Robbie Spitzer and Stacy Wingord both of Harrisonburg; a daughter-in-law, Jane Spitzer of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren Brandi Spitzer, Zion Spitzer, Tara Spitzer, Tracy Arehart, Melissa Spitzer, Adam Spitzer, and Dillon, one great-grandson, Dakai Spitzer, and two adopted sisters, Betty Runion and Mary Hawkins both of Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM, Friday evening, Oct 22, 2010 at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, Oct 23, 2010 in the Chapel of Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will be at Keezletown Cemetery.
