She was born on August 25, 1942, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Helen Redner Simmons.
Beverly was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and attended Madison College, now JMU, for two years. She started working part time for the Credit Bureau and in 1963 started working for the City Treasure’s office, in 1981, she became city treasure and retired after 35 years of service in 1997. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and part time treasure. She was also a member of Virginia Retired Treasures Association and a charter member of Harrisonburg Pilot Club. Beverly enjoyed traveling, antiquing, reading and crocheting.
On October 5, 1985, she married Bobby E. Miller, who preceded her in death on June 16, 2021.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy L. Simmons.
She is survived by several nephews, cousins and many loving friends. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marguerite Turner and husband, Carl, Martha Cook and husband, Robert; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Slifer, Sr.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A memorial service will be held 12:30 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025, at funeral home in Harrisonburg with Rev. Scott Thayer officiating. Private burial will be held earlier in the day at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
