

Curry will always be remembered for his gentle, loving spirit and eagerness to serve others which was rooted in his lifelong relationship with Jesus.
A son of the late Fletcher E. and Dorothy Ellis Davis, he was born on March 4, 1915 in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary and was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. on April 15, 1941. He served as pastor in Waynesboro, GA, Childersburg, AL, Charleston, WV, Plant City, Hialeah and Coral Gables, FL, and Summerville, GA.
Curry was the beloved husband of Nellie Keel whom he married on Sept. 18, 1944. Surviving in addition to his wife are his devoted children, Dr. Curry Davis, Jr. and wife, Marcella, Franklin, KY; Gwen Sloop and husband, Dr. John Sloop, Harrisonburg, VA; and Grace Naze and husband, Rev. George Naze, Lextington, Ky; six grandchildren, Kristen Ramsey, and husband, Mike; David Sloop, and wife, Melissa; Kate Kelty, and husband, Chris; Fletcher, and Vivian Davis and Keely Naze; eight great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah and Beth Ramsey, John, Ben, and Elijah Kelty, Sydney Sloop; and one little great-granddaughter, Anna Kelty who lives in heaven; and one sister, Marjorie Stevers, San Diego, CA.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 17 N. Court Square, Harrisonburg, on Wed., January 4, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. John Sloop officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church for the purpose of providing scholarships to Young Life Camps. Reaching others for Christ was the passion of Curry’s life.
