
He was born on November 20, 1951 in Harrisonburg and is the son of Helen Long Ritchie Shifflett of Grottoes and the late Clarence E. Ritchie, II.
Donald graduated from Montevideo High School and was a Manager at New York Carpet World for 10 years, and Color Tile and Carpet for 17 years.
On September 25, 1971 he married the former Diane Whitmore, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Christina Chandler and husband, Calvin of Harrisonburg, Tracey Collins and husband, Matt of Grottoes; one son, Derek Ritchie of Staunton; one brother, Gary Ritchie and wife, Judy of Harrisonburg; seven sisters, Carolyn Chadwick and husband, Ralph, of Warren, AR, Janice Rexrode and husband, Paul, of Staunton, Joyce Good and husband, Joe, of Harrisonburg, Alice Ritchie of Grottoes, Shelby Allman and husband, Gary, of Bridgewater, Cindy Mace and husband, Bobby, of Port Republic, Kay Lee and husband, Rick of Harrisonburg; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence E. Ritchie, III; a grandson, Christopher Brian Chandler; and a granddaughter, Heather Nichole Chandler.
At his request, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 22, at First Church of the Nazarene, corner of Boyers Rd. and Port Republic Rd. in Harrisonburg. Pastors Margaret Michael and Jim Harrison will conduct the service.
