

She was born in Bridgewater, Va., on January 25, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Homer and Annie Matheny Anderson.
Elizabeth graduated from Bridgewater High School and Dunsmore Business College in Staunton.
Elizabeth and her husband were the founding owners and operators of Atkins Litter Service, Inc. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star, long time member of First Presbyterian Church where she was involved with Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the hospitality desk, and was Secretary and member of Mrs. Sally Blosser’s Sunday school class. She touched many people with her card ministry and later telephone ministry.
On July 14, 1950 she married Charles R. “Bob” Atkins who survives.
In addition, surviving family includes daughters, Sharon Lam and husband, Bill; Mary Morris and husband, Mike; Nancy Miller and
husband, Craig; all of Rockingham, VA. Grandchildren include Geoff Lam and wife, Kathy, of Tappahannock, VA; Marc Lam and wife, Elizabeth; Brandon Morris and wife, Misty; Kyle Morris and wife, Lauren; all of Rockingham,
VA; Kelsey Miller of Fort Benton, MT, and Chase Miller of Manhattan, KS; ten great-grandchildren; and a niece, Martha Anderson Bocock of Rockingham, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Boyd and Harry Anderson and a sister, Ethel Anderson.
The Rev. Paul O’Gorek will conduct Elizabeth’s Celebration of Life, 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at Sunnyside’s Meredith Chapel. The family will enjoy meeting friends following the service. A private burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens will be held earlier in the day.
