

Francis Eugene Turner, 83, a resident of Harrisonburg, died Friday morning, April 15, 2011, at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.
A son of the late George H. and Emory A. Savage Turner, he was born on July 27, 1927 in Exmore, VA. He served in the US Army at the end of World War II. He graduated from Madison College and received his Masters Degree from the University of Virginia. Mr. Turner was a principal at Perry McClure High School in Buena Vista and was a former Director of Admissions at James Madison University. He also served on the Harrisonburg City School Board and the Harrisonburg Electric Commission Board.
His wife, Jane Welsh Turner, preceded him in death on March 27, 2008.
He is survived by two sons, J. T. Turner and his wife, Stacy of Harrisonburg and their children, Nan Turner and Will Turner; and Patrick Turner of Philadelphia, PA and his children, Brendan Turner, Erin Turner and Shannon Turner; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 Monday morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church followed by Funeral Services with Deacon Fred LaSpina officiating. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad or James Madison University Foundation.
