He was born on March 14, 1931 in Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Gifford H. and Etta Annie Blankenship Cooper.
Fred was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church and had been employed with American Oil Company before retiring. He was an avid ink sketcher and a historic artist and had many sketches of the Valley.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by many cousins.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Woodbine Cemetery with Rev. Sam Jones officiating.
