Fred Luther Shifflett Jr.

He was born on February 26, 1933 and was the son of the late Fred L. Shifflett Sr. and Catherine Higgins Shifflett.

Buddy lived his entire life in Rockingham County and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by six children, Tina Bragg and husband, Jimmy, of Broadway, Tony Shifflett and wife, Melinda, of Harrisonburg, Kimberly Turner and husband, Eric, of Harrisonburg, Fred Shifflett, III of Grottoes; Diana Zimbro of Grottoes, Kimberly Clatterbuck of Stanley; his former wife, JoAnn Showalter Shifflett of Harrisonburg; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Meadows of Waynesboro; and one brother, Richard “Ricky” Layman of Wintergreen, VA.

He was also preceded in death by a son Victor Shifflett.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM, Monday, May 26, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27, at Gospel Hill Mennonite Church, with J. Mark Frederick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
