

He was born in Miami, FL on November 27, 1940, and was the son of the late Byron and Nella Young Beasley.
James graduated from Miami High School, and earned his Bachelor Degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He served in the US Army between the Korean and Vietnam Era. James lived in Florida for 32 years before moving to Falls Church and for the past 25 years resided in Harrisonburg. While living in Washington, DC, he was Chief Financial Officer of Lanman Co. In Harrisonburg, he owned and operated Padgett Business Services for over 20 years.
James was a member of the Harrisonburg Elks, Harrisonburg Lions Club, and served on the board of Valley Aids Network. He volunteered time teaching senior citizens about their taxes and refereed basketball games for many years. While living in Maryland he coached basketball and LaCross for the Recreation League.
On October 22, 1969 he married the former Linda Stephens, who survives.
He is also survived by three children, Amy Beasley Warford and husband, Rick, of Harrisonburg, Pamela Beasley Walters and husband, Keith, of Calloway, FL, and Michael Beasley of Conway, SC; four grandchildren, Clayton and Avery Warford, Byron and Colin Walters; a brother, Ray Beasley of Miami, FL; a niece, Kim Schnitzius of Westin, FL and a nephew, Bryan Beasley of Miami, FL.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Chapel of Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Cindy Carr officiating. Everyone is invited for food and fellowship following the service at 1380 Blackberry Lane, Harrisonburg. Burial will be at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery in Miami, FL.
