James Douglas Blizzard

He was born on December 2, 1938 in Randolph County, WV and was the son of the late Gifford and Virginia Cooper Blizzard.

James was employed with Reynolds Metal until he retired in 1999, after retiring; he enjoyed working part time at the Marriott and later with his close friend, Dave at Gap View Kennels in Broadway.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Blizzard and a daughter, Tammy Blizzard.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa McIntyre and husband, David, of Bridgewater; a granddaughter, Taylor Whetzel (Aaron), of Bridgewater; great-grandchildren, Faith, Kayden and Kolt; a brother, Joseph Blizzard and wife, Linda; a niece, Shannon Blizzard (Marko) all of Long Island, NY; and the mother of his children, Loretta Cromer of Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the funeral home with Rev. Marilyn Heishman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
