He was born on March 31, 1927, in Harrisonburg, to the late Celia Agnes Scott. He attended Effinger Street School. He also served in the United States Army.
He moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1951 and lived in the surrounding areas for the next 40 years. He was employed at Investment Casting Company in Springfield, New Jersey, retiring after 35 years of service. Sometime after that, he relocated back to Harrisonburg.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Elinor Thomas. He is survived by his daughter Norma Paulette Puryear and husband Melvin of New Jersey; stepdaughter Terry Jnolewis and her husband Anthony of Michigan; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several cousins and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 12 noon at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
