Jean Bowman Southard

She was born December 29, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Marcella Rhodes Bowman and Carl R. Bowman.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband W. Maynard Southard; two children, Sallie C. Bedall and Thomas R. Click, Jr.; four step-children, Michael D. Southard, Hugh D. Southard, Melissa S. Anthony and Benjamin R. Southard; and six grandchildren.

Jean was a long time resident of Harrisonburg. She attended Harrisonburg High School and Madison College, and she was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and served on the church council.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20 in the chapel at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Rev. Tresa Quarles presiding. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 19 at Lindsey Funeral Home.
