John Wayne Mackey Jr.

John fought a battle of cancer with a determination and grace; we are comforted in knowing that he is now at rest with our Heavenly Father.

John was born February 17, 1965 and was the son of John W. and Sharon Sanders Mackey of Brandywine, WV.

John graduated from Franklin High School and served in the US Navy for 10 years and with three honorable discharges. He worked for Loudon Milk Transportation for 15 years and also Houff Transportation.

John spent many springs and falls fishing and hunting with his daughter. John had a passion for gardening and sharing his bounty with his friends and neighbors.

On April 28, 2001 John married, Jennifer Ann Corley who survives.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughters, Brooke Alexis Mackey of the home, Kimberly Moore and husband, Jerin, of Philippi, WV; Bethany Pennington and husband, Christopher, of Montrose, WV; five grandchildren; a brother, Michael Mackey and wife, Tonya, of Arden, WV; a sister, Sherry Weasenforth and husband, Bill of Brandywine, WV; and one niece and three nephews.

Honoring his wishes, John will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with Rev. Amanda Garber officiating.
