A son of the late Ray and Carrie Lee Bazzle Shaver, he was born on December 31, 1952 in Harrisonburg. He was a lifelong member of the Zenda community in Rockingham County. John worked for American Tire Distribution for many years and was a truck driver for Coca-Cola as well. In his spare time, he was a handy man, farmer, and was always building things.
On August 18, 1972 he married JoAnn Susan Weaver Shaver who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pepsi Coleman and husband Harry of Rockingham, and Jamie Marsh and husband, Nathan of Coppell, Texas; grandchildren, Bryce Coleman and fiance’ Andrew Strawderman, Abbey Coleman; Mollie Coleman, and Samuel Marsh; four sisters, numerous nieces and nephews; his dog, Zoe, and cat, Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Graveside services will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 3:30 pm at Fellowship United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Lane Turner officiating. There will be no public viewing.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 5:00 pm at Fellowship United Methodist Church.
