

A daughter of the late Guy Whitmore and Freda Myers Long, she was born on Jan. 6, 1921 in Mt. Clinton. Miss Long graduated from Mt. Clinton High School and Henry Business School. She had worked for Merchants Grocery in Harrisonburg for 14 years, was a teller for the former Harrisonburg Loan & Thrift and had worked in the Credit Note Department at Crestar Bank, where she retired in 1983. Miss Long was a former member of the BPW; was a member of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; and a lifetime member of Cooks Creek Presbyterian and the Berean Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one sister, Eleanor L. Miller; one brother, Curtis L. Long and his wife, Colleen; nieces and nephews, Debby M. Rimel, Darryl E. Miller, Judith L. Messick and Gary L. Caracofe; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys L. Caracofe.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 this (Tuesday) evening, at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
The Rev. George Evans will conduct a private Interment Service in Woodbine Cemetery.
