

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Elnora Ruth Conrad Varner and a daughter Donna Jett Diehl.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years Violet Gibson Jett Varner of Harrisonburg, Marvin Franklin Varner Jr. and Anne of Harrisonville, MO, Darlene Varner Fergurson and "Fergie", of Mechanicsville, VA; Carolyn Jett Wetsel of Concord, NC; Vickie Jett Painter and Simon, of Staunton, Sandra Jett Hopkin of Orem, UT, James H. Jett of Harrisonburg; Franklin D. Jett and Nancy, of Harrisonburg, son-in-law, Marlin Diehl of Earlysville; and a special granddaughter, Katie Jett. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Marvin was a truck driver for 50+ years, retiring from Dayton/Hahn Transport.
He was a WWII veteran, serving with the 58th Army Air Corps in Trinidad & India. He was an active member of the Harrisonburg First Church of Nazarene and a volunteer for Steve Wingfield Ministries. Camping, fly-fishing, gardening and woodworking were among his pastime activities. In later years he enjoyed "working" picture puzzles.
The celebration of life will be held at the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene by Pastors Kerry Willis, Jim Harrison, Roger Dove and Evangelist Steve Wingfield at 10 a.m. Tuesday May 22, 2012. Burial will immediately follow the service at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with military rites by American Legion Post 27, Dayton.
The family will receive friends at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home Monday evening 6-8 p.m.
