A daughter of the late William Austin and Hazel Ruth Houff Landis, she was born on February 26, 1936 in Augusta County, Virginia where she spent her early life.
Nancy graduated from North River High School in 1953 and moved to Harrisonburg where she lived the majority of her life.
After moving to Harrisonburg, she was employed at Warren’s Cut Rate Drug Store until 1977. In December of 1977, she became a kitchen supervisor for James Madison University’s food service until she retired.
Nancy enjoyed watching all sports, flower gardening and was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg.
Surviving is a sister, Helen R. Landis, of Rockingham; a brother, James “Jim” Landis, of Harrisonburg; numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Charlotte Tsahakis, Maxine Dean, Bernice Snyder and Lucille Will; and one brother, Richard Landis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Lauren Eanes officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, near Mt. Sidney, Virginia.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. The casket will be closed.
