

In 1972, she married George “Frank” Mitchell Jr. who preceded her in death on January 5th, 2024. She is also preceded in death by her parents Maxwell Baker and Ida Spitzer of Rockingham, her siblings, Maxwell Baker Jr. and Charles Baker of Lacey Springs, and Richard Baker of Roanoke.
Ramona is survived by two sisters, Eunice Shoemaker and Janet Reedy of Fulks Run, a daughter, Shannon McWilliams, who she loved and adored, her husband, Ashby, of Melrose; a son, Lester Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Colton Mitchell, you were her Josh Randall, dear camp, loving grandson, who she was so proud of and called you her son, his Fiancée Skylar Breeden, who she just loved, never forget those trips to Gift & Thrift; Dakota Mitchell, who she always enjoyed listening to his hunting and fishing stories, his Fiancée, Nikki Fritz, who she really enjoyed her being around with those babies; Jonathan McWilliams, who she said, brought back the fun in life and shared her love of food and outdoors; Madalynn McWilliams, who always made her wear her heart on her sleeve, and spoiled her rotten; Chandler Hedrick, and companion Shyann Litwin; Dillon Mitchell, and companion, Alexis Johnston, as well as baby Mitchell coming in late 2026; she was SO excited about you; Jayden Paniagua, she loved watching you grow up. She had six great-grandchildren, Liam Mitchell, Peyton Fritz, Charli Mitchell, Landyn Mitchell, her candy eaten best friend, Raelynn Mitchell, who always kept her on her toes, eating as many popsicles as she could, eat as many as you want, girl; and Oaklee Shifflett; She also had two very special people, Megan Corder, you were so important to her, you always have a special place in her heart; Krissy Shifflett, the extra daughter she never had, you always had the ability to make her laugh, she loved you so much, and her animals, Bella, the special connection she had with you reminded her so much of Frank, and Shaggy, her personal guard dog in the form of a bird.
Ramona was just the person one would wish to have is an acquaintance, friend, a neighbor, or family member, she would most want to be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and there will be a private family celebration of life in the future.
