Robert David Creegan, 92, of Harrisonburg passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 10, 1925, in Albany, NY, and was the son of the late Frank and Mary Herberger Creegan. Robert enjoyed a good life; he graduated from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT, and served in the US Army. He lived in Richmond for 25 years and lived in Harrisonburg for 30 years. He was a personnel technician with the Internal Revenue Service before retiring. Robert loved to read and was a history buff and gave to his children “the love of reading the newspaper”. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. On February 20, 1954, he married the former Elaine Monfette, who survives. He is also survived by his children, James A. Creegan of Richmond, Catherine (Creegan) Fowler of Houston, TX, Matthew X. Creegan of Richmond, Joseph I. Creegan of Petersburg, Thomas P. Creegan and Timothy J. Creegan, and Mary E. (Creegan) Cornelius all of Harrisonburg; his grandchildren, Melissa N. Fowler of Houston, TX, Kelly E. and William C. Cornelius both of Harrisonburg, Reuben N. Salazar of Harrisonburg; great-grandchildren, Elvis, Michael and Edwin Falls all of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Creegan, Jr. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Silvio Kaberia officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Honor Guard from Fort Belvoir. Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg is handling arrangements.
