Robert Allen Varner

Robert A. Varner, 77, went home to his Heavenly Father April 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife Irene Varner, his daughter Cynthia Fay Ritchie, three step daughters, six grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Hassler-Sutphin American Legion Post #166 in New Market, where he previously served as chaplain for a number of years. He was a committed school bus driver for Rockingham public schools until he retired. He was a dedicated route driver for Harrisonburg Dept. Public Transportation. He had a love for fishing at the bay, antique cars; he enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR. Robert never knew a stranger and was blessed with the gift of gab.He will be sorely missed by many. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date to be announced.
