

He was the son of the late Talfourd Harris Shomo, Sr. and Mary Porter Shomo.
Harris was married for 56 years to his wife and high school sweetheart, Sandra (Sandy) Shomo, whom survives.
Harris graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1957 and Randolph Macon College in 1961. He was in the insurance business for over 30 years - first with
Traveler’s Insurance Company and then Shomo & Lineweaver Insurance Agency.
He was an avid and talented golfer from early youth until he was curtailed by health issues.
Harris was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Court Square, serving as Deacon. He also served his community in various civic organizations.
He is survived by two sons and their spouses. Randolph Harris Shomo and Tammy, Thomas William Shomo and Kim; three grandsons, William Talfourd Shomo, Daniel Jackson Shomo and John Arlington Shomo; a step-grandson, Joseph Tanner Croy and wife, Tess; one brother, William Porter Shomo and wife, Sandy; one sister, Portie Shomo Weston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church on Court Square in Harrisonburg, followed by a reception at the church.
Burial will be private.
