
Bill was born on July 29, 1928 in San Diego, CA, and was the son of the late Frank Kasuke Hashiguchi and Fuji Kusakisako Hashiguchi. During World War II he was incarcerated in an internment camp as were 100,000 other American citizens of Japanese descent. Afterwards he served in the Army`s military police before moving to Chicago to learn to be a machinist.
On June 18, 1952, he married Iris Shizuye Omura, who preceded him in death on July 19, 1999. Bill and Iris moved from Chicago to Harrisonburg in 1955 to work as a poultry chick sexor.
Bill enjoyed bowling in different leagues and was a founding and lifelong member of the Bow Hunters of Rockingham. He was renowned as a great fisherman amongst his many friends and spent many a day on the areas lakes and rivers. He will be remembered for his good natured charm, friendship, creativity and generosity.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Steven Hashiguchi of Portland, OR, and Frank Hashiguchi of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth, Grace Virginia, Hanako Ellis, and Genevieve Cherie Marie Hashiguchi; two brothers, John and James Hashiguchi; and a sister Betty Inahara.
Mr. Hashiguchi will be cremated at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg and there will be no services per his request.
