

Mrs. Ruby Ray Surber age 93 of Harrogate, TN was born November 20, 1920 and passed away June 10, 2014 at Tri- State Nursing Home in Harrogate, TN. She was saved at an early age and joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church until the family moved to Harrogate and she then became a member of Shawanee Baptist Church for over 80 years. There she taught Young People’s Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School for over 35 year. She was an active member of WMU, sang in the church choir and she was a devoted deacons wife. She taught head start for several years and retired from Claiborne County Department of Human Services. She was also a volunteer at Tri-State Nursing Home. Ruby touched so many lives through her kindness and humbleness, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milt and Vina Arnold Ray; husband, Elmer Surber; infant sister, Martha Blanch Ray; brothers, Clyde, Willard and Jack Ray; and granddaughter, Kristie Rae Surber.
She is survived by Sons: Bill (Sherrie) Surber
Bob (Robin) Surber
George (Mitzi) Surber
Grandson: Henry Clay Surber
Sisters: Ruth (James) Sharp
Cleo (Jake) Davis
And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. Thursday June 12, 2014 at Shawanee Baptist Church in Harrogate with funeral services to follow at 8:00 P.M. Thursday.. Graveside service 10:00 A.M. Friday in the Harrogate Cemetery.
