Services to celebrate the life of Benson Blake, 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jimmy Herring assisted by Pastor Dave Craig.
Benson was born on December 11, 1938, in Crowville, LA and passed away on January 11, 2014. He was one of nine children born to Coy C. and Myrtle (Green) Blake.
Benson was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country proudly. He later retired as a plumber after 35 years of serving the Shreveport/Bossier area. Benson was a member of the Plumbers Union, an avid hunter and fisherman, and genuinley loved and was loved by all of his family!
Benson is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo (Grimshaw) Blake; three brothers, Carroll, Alon, and Cedric Blake; and his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Katherine Butler and Debbie Williamson and husband James; brothers, Bennon Blake and wife Annette, Dwaine Blake, and Danny Blake and wife Linda; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
