Bernard was born December 28, 1954, in Toul, France, he moved to Minden, Louisiana when he was 11 years old. He graduated from Minden High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. Minden is where he built a life rooted in family, work, and many life-long friendships, including marrying his high school sweetheart, Barbara Evans Lebel.
In his prime, when he was not at Minden Truck and Trailer/ Mack Trucks, you would find Bernard with his family on Caney Lake. He taught his daughters how to water ski before they could walk. Something he took much pride in.
After retiring from Genesis Energy, Bernard stayed busy with his grandchildren, whom he was affectionally known as “BB”, a title he cherished deeply. BB would do anything they asked him to do, especially going on a bike ride or a golf cart ride around the neighborhood with his beloved dog, Zack.
Bernard was preceded in death by his mother, Yvette Lebel Greenwood, and brother James Greenwood. He is lovingly remembered and survived by Barbara Lebel, daughters Brittany Mitchell (husband Jay), Blair Miller (husband Michael), his cherished grandchildren, Caroline, Mallory, Michael (Mikey) Miller Jr., and Maya Mitchell; and his loyal dog, Zack who was always by his side.
In keeping with Bernard’s wishes, the family will gather privately to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that memorial contributions be made to Petsavers of Shreveport
