BOSSIER CITY LA - Bonita (Bonnie) Jean Stevens, 78, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Bonnie was born and raised in Marion, Indiana, and graduated from Marion High School in 1965. Bonnie married the love of her life George Stevens in 1967 and they were stationed in Pearl Harbor until 1970. Bonnie worked as a bank teller, homemaker, and AT&T employee, and also answered the switchboard at Marion National Bank before her retirement. Bonnie and George lived in Gas City for fifty years. After George passed away in 2022, Bonnie moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and then St. James Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Eagles in Alexandria, Sweet Adelines, The Moose in Gas City, and the USS Sargo Assn. Bonnie loved to sing, cook and dance, and made many friends over the years. One of her greatest joys was attending her children's and grandchildren’s swim meets and ball games.
She was preceded in her death by her parents, John and Ruth Rarick; her in-laws, James and Sylvia Stevens; her husband George, and daughter-in-law, Lynn Stevens. Survivors include her son, Aaron Stevens of Bossier City, LA; daughter, Amy Stevens of Argos; son, Scott Stevens of Gas City; sister-in-law, Ann (James) Cramer of Marion; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Stevens of Columbia, MD; grandson, Colin Stevens of Bossier City, LA; grandson, Blake Ross of Fruitland Park, FL; grandson, Justin Starr of Bossier City, LA; adopted grandson, Tyler Jacob of Upland, IN.
A small family burial service will be held at Marion National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025.
