

HAUGHTON, LA – David Hardie Barton, 75, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Friday, September 16th, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 18th, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA with burial to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. There will be a visitation held on Saturday, September 17th, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
David Hardie Barton was born 6/25/1941. He was born in Winnsboro, La to Claude & Iona Barton. He was one of 12 children. He had 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
David went to school in Liddyville, La and attended Ogden High. He attended Beth River Baptist Church and was baptized at the young age of 13 .
David was raised on a farm and would often share stories of when he plowed fields and picked cotton. He worked on the farm until he went into the Army on December 03, 1963. During his tenure he received a good conduct metal, marksman with a pistol and became an expert with rifles and won several medals. He was in the army for 2 years and was honorably discharged on December 2, 1965.
After his departure from the Army he went to work as a security officer with Louisiana Ammunition Plant. He started there in 1966. During his working years he became president of the IGUA Local 81 for many years where he strived for better benefits for the workers. He finally retired from there in 2006 after 40 years.
David married Alice Jolley on 7/23/71 and was happily married for 45 years.
They have enjoyed many fun activities together . They loved to go camping and could often find them fishing at Lake Clairborne with their family. They fished at Lake Bisteneau and Toledo Bend often.
Alice and David both enjoyed hunting and would often go together. David's love for the outdoors was passed on to his 2 sons and they too now love to hunt and fish.
David was a quiet man with a gentle soul. He loved his family immensely and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
You could often find him playing checkers with his great- grandsons, Gavin and Braiden. Dallas and Denver could also be found sitting in "Papa"s lap when they came to visit.
David is survived by his 2 wonderful sons, Jimmy Barton and his wife Debra from Loganville, GA. and David Ray Barton and his wife Rebecca Barton. of Merritte Island, FL. He has 5 grandchildren, David Bradley Barton, Ashley Renee Daniel , Justin Randall Barton, Dallas Barton and Denver Barton. He also has 10 great grandchildren, Gavin & Braiden Barton, Maelyn, Paisley, Kinley Daniel and Emersyn, Caroline, and Addilyn Barton.
