

Funeral services for David Kenneth Lay will be held Monday, January 9, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m. The Reverend Charles Glorioso will officiate assisted by Father Joseph Howard and interment will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton.
David was born April 20, 1917 in Vivian, LA., the son of Matt Baker and Viola Harrell Lay. He later served in the U S Coast Guard during World War II, where he was stationed in Pensacola, FL and New Orleans, LA. On February 16, 1957 he married Bessie Genevieve Smith. David held various jobs throughout his life, but was most notably the owner of Michael's Furniture Company in Bossier City. He enjoyed playing golf. He was also a man of faith and a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church and served in the Knights of Columbus and was a lay Eucharistic Minister.
David was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, son Michael, his pa rents and two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by daughters Celeste (Steve) Cirinna of Montrose, IA and their two children, Jen and Dan; Mary (Bob) Martinisko of Clifton, Va and their two daughters, Genevieve and Natalie; son Stephen of La Jolla, CA; and sister, Mary Borracci of Shreveport. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and special nephew, Randy Pons of Oklahoma City.
