It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Diane McEachern Mullins Cliatt, age 80 of Shreveport Louisiana, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Born on July 30, 1944 in Minden Louisiana. Diane was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. However; her greatest happiness came from being “Grammy” to her four precious grandchildren, Jenna, Hanna, Olivia & Everette. They were the joy of her heart.
Diane lived a life marked by the gift of gab. She never met a stranger and showed love and kindness to all. She was quick witted, full of spunk and never short on words. She had an exceptional singing voice and wrote many songs which are found in her plethora of notebooks. She was an avid TV watcher and loved true life crime dramas. She would share the ending of the crime long before the narrator did and missed her calling as a crime scene investigator.
Diane was a graduate of Springhill High School. She excelled in Sports and was an exceptional Basketball player who had her college dreams cut short by an accident that left her with a broken neck and severe knee injury. She spent the next few years healing and working and eventually found love and got married. They moved to Bossier and had their three children, Jodie, Jason & Jeremy Mullins. She spent her early years there until moving in her latter years to Atlanta GA where she remarried and gained two lovely daughters, Traci & Heather and eventually two grandsons, Austin & Luke who affectionately called her Peachu. She worked in the wholesale distribution industry in sales until she was asked to move home by her sister to help take care of their aging mother… without hesitation she did and moved in with her sister and mother for the next several years. They were all known as “The Hens” and spent many days in laughter and reminiscing.
Diane struggled in the last several years with COPD and found it hard to get out and about. Even through her illness she was full of strength, tenacity and had an unwavering devotion to live, to laugh and found comfort in talking to friends on the phone and visiting with family. She left a smile with the ones she loved and she will be greatly missed.
Diane is survived by her Daughter Jodie Mullins Shuff husband(David) and her Son Olen Jason Mullins wife(Katie), Her grandchildren Olivia Grace Diane Shuff (her Namesake), Jenna Marie Mullins, Hanna Mullins and Everette Ross Mullins. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in Death by her Son (Jeremy Ross Mullins), Mother (Dot Valentine Souter McEachern), Father (Olen Herthal McEachern Sr.) Brother ( Olen Herthal McEachern Jr.) Brother (Arthur Dale McEachern) and Sister(Nelda Rose McEachern Peters).
