Doris was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, K.D. Phillips, one son Kenneth Phillips, and 7 siblings. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Andy Reeves of Bossier City, Daughter-in-law Becky Phillips of Mansfield, Texas, her dear younger sister Shirley Zachary of Longview, Texas, 6 grandsons and their families, 6 great grandchildren, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to number.
Doris was a devoted wife and mother, faithful friend, and loyal servant of Jesus Christ and His church. Doris was a member of First Baptist Bossier for 70 years, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was instrumental in establishing the Benevolence Ministry of First Baptist Bossier. She had a passion for providing comfort to those in time of their loss of loved ones.
Doris loved people, and was a sounding board to those in distress, a comfort to the hurting, and a giver to those in need. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery in Haughton on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Visitation will be from 9 am to 10, with the service at 10 am. A graveside service will follow.
Officiating will be her beloved nephew, Rev. Dr. Gregg Zachary of Longview, TX, and Pastor Rev. Joe Whitney of First Bossier.
Serving as pall bearers will be her 6 grandsons, William Dean Reeves, Jonathan Phillips, Ross Reeves, Cary Phillips, Phillip Reeves, and Paul Reeves.
The family would like to thank her faithful decades long friends, the entire Staff and Administration of Pilgrim Manor Rehabilitation, and Nurse Christie Rawlings, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice Care for their kind love and care for Doris. We will forever be grateful.
And we don’t want to fail to thank the residents of Pilgrim Manor Rehabilitation who reached out to Doris, and were so kind to, and patient with Doris through her struggles as her disease progressed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
